Blue Mountain Activities aim to provide the highest safety standards for young people, adult groups and employees involved in adventurous outdoor activities. Outdoor adventure activities involve an element of risk; it is recognised that this is necessary to provide an appropriate level of challenge and through skilful management, it can stimulate and encourage personal and social development. However, safety is of paramount importance, and Blue Mountain Activities ensures that the level of risk is acceptable in order to maintain appropriate safety standards.
Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA) licence
Blue Mountain Activities is licensed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority to provide:- Caving, mine exploration, rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking and mountaineering, gorge scrambling, canyoning, sea level traversing, mountain biking, coasteering, kayaking, open canoeing, paddle surfing and improvised rafting. Insurance
Blue Mountain Activities is insured through Perkins Slade Ltd and holds Public Liability Insurance to £5 million.
Staff
Blue Mountain Activities’ programmes are led by professional, experienced and appropriately qualified outdoor tutors and instructors. In addition, our staff have excellent “”soft skills”, for example, the ability to provide individual support, encouragement and help to increase the self confidence of course members. All our staff share responsibility for ensuring that our health and safety policy is put into practice; all staff are familiar with our code of practice, operating procedure and risk assessment documents, and ensure that all activities are managed according to these procedures. All staff possess a current first aid qualification.
Equipment
All equipment is of a high standard and is safe, well maintained and regularly inspected.
