If you need to develop your navigation skills or your navigation is not as good as you would like, this one day course provides an ideal opportunity to refine your technique.
If you would like a navigation refresher day before a WGL or ML assessment then this could provide an opportunity to fine tune your navigation.
The Navigation Day takes place at a variety of locations in the Peak District National Park and surrounding area in the Hathersage area.
Having established your experience and aspiration the instructor can plan the programme around these.
Topics covered are;
- Ground to map and map to ground interpretation skills including contour interpretation skills
- Use of compass for taking and following bearings
- Measuring distance
- Navigation strategies for poor visibility conditions
- Relocation skills
- Route planning to avoid hazards such as avalanche prone slopes
The programme is flexible to take into account individual needs and aims, weather etc.
